Parent Mental Health Matters at Our SEN Community Hub

Parenting can be challenging in ways that aren’t always visible — and for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs, those challenges can be ongoing and intense. Navigating education, health services, advocacy, and daily routines often leaves little time to pause and look after your own wellbeing.

Following Parent Mental Health Day, we are holding a dedicated session at our SEN Community Hub on 7th of March to recognise and support the mental health of parents and carers within our SEN community.

A space created with SEN families in mind

This session is designed to be calm, understanding, and flexible. It’s a place where SEN parents and carers don’t need to explain their circumstances — you’ll be among people who truly get it.

You are welcome to:

  • Connect with other parents and carers who share similar experiences

  • Talk openly, listen quietly, or simply take a moment to breathe

  • Access a supportive, judgement-free environment

There is no pressure to participate in any particular way. You can come as you are, for however long you’re able.

Why parent mental health matters

Supporting a child with additional needs requires strength, patience, and resilience — but parents and carers also need care and understanding. Looking after your own mental health is not a luxury; it’s an essential part of sustaining yourself and your family.
