Excited to partner with IRMO to Support Parents of SEN Children

Clapping Hands CIC is pleased to announce a new collaboration with IRMO (Indoamerican Refugee and Migrant Organisation) to deliver a specialist training session for parents of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

This initiative is designed to provide practical tools, emotional support, and culturally responsive guidance to help parents better understand Speech and Language Therapy and support their children’s development — both at home and within the education system.

The session covered:

  • Understanding your child’s needs and strengths
  • Navigating SEN Speech and Language support in the borough of Lambeth
  • Strategies for communication, language, regulation, and daily routines
  • Building confidence and community through shared experience

“Many families face language barriers, cultural gaps, and systemic obstacles when trying to access support for their children. This training aims to bridge those gaps and empower parents with knowledge and connection” said the Clapping Hands team.

This training was part of IRMO’s wider work to support Latin American and migrant families in the UK and builds on Clapping Hands’ experience delivering early years and interventions for children with additional needs.

“Families were asking for this training for a while. The session went well, and the feedback from parents was brilliant” said IRMO.

This was more than just a training session — it was a chance for parents to feel seen, supported, and better equipped to help their children thrive.
